BET Awards Snag Highest Ratings Since 2017

Viewership = 3.7 million

In addition to coming as the platform’s first virtual showing, the year’s rendition of the highly anticipated ceremony was also simulcast on CBS for the first time – a move that’s yielded its highest ratings since 2017.

“Now in its 20th year, the live simulcast drew 3.7 million total viewers as it was simulcast on the aforementioned ViacomCBS networks. On BET alone, the awards telecast delivered a 0.6 rating in the demo and 1.6 million viewers while its debut on CBS earned a 0.4 rating in the demo and netted 1.9 million viewers.

On the digital side of things, BET Awards generated over 31 million views across BET Digital on the day of the show which is a surge from last year’s celebration. On BET Social, the show generated over 30M views, more than double year over year.”

Damn. Everyone is stuck at home and it only pulled 3.7 million?! And it was shown on CBS too?! 😂 Chiiiiile, there were no current stars on the show, and the promo leading up was nonexistent.

It was best viewed on TV, because none of the show’s videos they posted to YouTube are in full HD.

They should have been put the BET awards show on public television stations as well. They would have gotten so much more exposure.
